Funny. In Northern Greece (area of Kozani) they make almost an identical walnut cake that it's called "Layers". First they bake the walnut cake, then they top it with eggs yolks beaten with sugar, the cake returns to the oven so as the eggs are cooked and then they frost it with a light cocoa glaze and top it with whole walnuts. It's excellent. I 'll give a try to this one!
